5.4 Evaluation and Discussion

As it can be seen from Fig. 5.3, although most of the industry growth has happened over the last 15 years, countries have had different degrees of success which place them at different stages of market development. Also, as is summarised in Table 5.3, the main adopted policy schemes around the world are variations of an FiP in the form of CfD, FiT, RPS, and ITC. The usage of a specific support policy, to a great extent, depends on the context, including institutions, market structure, technology maturity, and risk, amongst others.
